Instructions for Submitting Peer-Reviewed Articles

Please note that articles with either be published via the journal or membership e-blast. Placement decisions are made by our editorial team.

Subject Matter

Subject matter should be relevant to pathology, and specifically, to the pathologists’ assistant profession.
Case reports and original research reports are preferred.

Format

Submit the article as a Word document. Font should be Arial, size 11.
Document should contain manuscript, photo captions, and references.
Double space throughout, with left sided text alignment.
Add an extra return between paragraphs. Do not indent the first line of the paragraph.
Avoid excessive abbreviations.
When using acronyms, spell out the full name on the first use followed by the acronym in parentheses.
Other than the title on the first page, do not use headers or footers
In order to keep the peer review process anonymous, do not include the author’s name within the article

The general format of case reports is as follows:
Patient history
Hospital course
Diagnosis
Discussion

The general format of research reports is as follows:
Introduction
Methods
Results
Discussion

Photographs or Illustrations

Photographs and illustrations should be submitted as a separate file (do not embed the photo within the Word document).
JPEG and TIFF files are standard format.
Resolution should be at least 300 dpi.
Number the photographs and illustrations according to the order in which they are referenced within the text.
Captions should be submitted in same word document as manuscript.

References

List references, if any, in same word document as manuscript.
Number the references according to the order in which they are cited in the text.
References should be cited in accordance with the American Medical Association Manual of Style
